After cleaning windows for years, I have heard many different questions about window cleaning. Here are a few questions and answers that may help you. Q. How do I remove water spots from my windows? A. For most homeowners you may try a tub and tile cleaner on the exteriors of your windows. Be sure to mask off the perimeter of your window so as to not spray the cleaner on any area with paint, as this may damage the structural integrity of the paint coating. Popular brands include Zep (Found at Home Depot). Our company uses a special solvent found only in janitorial supply stores to remove those unsightly water spots. *Water spot removal is included in our window cleaning prices. Q. How often should I have my windows cleaned? A. Most window cleaning companies would tell you that you should have your windows cleaned every 3-4 months for healthy maintenance. This is, in most cases, “over-doing-it”. We always suggest that cleaning your windows once or twice a year will be sufficient. Some customers wish to have their windows cleaned more regularly due to the fact that they have a great view that they don’t want obstructed by dirty windows. Overall, our suggestion is that you take it on a case by case basis. If your windows are dirty, then have them cleaned. Q. What’s the best do it yourself way to clean windows? A. Homeowners often will have a few windows that tend to get dirty faster than others. Such examples include the window behind a sink. These windows will collect all sorts of dirt and grime and need to be cleaned regularly to avoid a dirty kitchen appearance. We suggest a brand called “Spray Away”. It is sold in 3 packs at Costco as well as Home Depot, and is very good for minor touch ups. It also seems to work well on the interior windows of your car. Q. How does SF WINDOW CLEANING get such good results? A. At SF, we use a squeegee method to whisk dirt away from the windows. Unlike using Windex, which rubs the dirt back into the window (therefore leaving streaks), our method removes the dirt and grime completely via squeegee. After the window is squeegee cleaned, we will use surgical towels to soak up excess window cleaning solution from around the windows. Next, we will use a razor blade tool to remove anything that is not water soluble. After these processes, you windows will be so clean that you will think they have disappeared completely! In the end your windows will be as good as the skill of your window washer. SF has years of experience and has perfected the art of making your windows spotless. Q. What geographic areas does SF serve? A. SF is based in SW Portland, OR. We serve the entire Portland metro area and have done so for many years. Cities include but are not limited to; Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Hillsboro, West Linn, Wilsonville, Newberg, and Portland, OR. Q. How do I get an estimate? A. SF makes it extremely easy to request an estimate. Simply go to our website and fill out our “REQUEST AN ESTIMATE” survey. We typically can get the estimate to you within a few days. I hope that I have answered a few questions you may have had about window cleaning. Have a great springtime and well talk to you soon!!!
